5 TIPS FOR MAINTAINING HEALTHY PREGNANCY CIRCULATION

14 Aug 2022 0 Comments

Poor circulation during pregnancy will cause conditions like edema and hypertension to worsen. Help maintain a healthy circulation through your lower limbs during pregnancy by using compression socks and following your doctor's advice. Here are five tips to help you get started.

EAT HEALTHY

Choose a well-nourished diet plan that includes all the required nutrients, vitamins, and minerals you need. Make sure to include three servings of iron-rich foods per day to keep your red blood cell count up.

BE ACTIVE

Keep your body in motion. Take regular breaks from sitting to stretch your legs and move around, and make time each day for some exercise. Even if your doctor only allows a light walk outside, it will help keep your circulation healthy.

BE LOOSE

Don't feel as if you have to fit into tight clothing. In fact, for pregnant women, loose and comfy is the way to go. Focus on your comfort at work as well. Avoid excessive standing and duties that dictate you have to wear uncomfortable clothing.

ELEVATE YOUR FEET

When you can, take some time out to put your feet up. When you elevate your feet, you help blood travel back up the legs and prevent blood clots and varicose veins. Plus, it helps combat leg swelling.

WEAR COMPRESSION SOCKS

Compression socks keep blood flowing correctly through your legs, helping reduce aches, pains, and swelling issues. You'll enjoy a little more pep in your step from the extra help, and compression helps battle painful varicose veins. Wear compression while traveling and during times when you can't move for a long period of time.
